现代中国展现出双重景象:一个渴望通过经济发展和基础投资成为世界领导的社会。世界上最大、最古老的官僚国家,在文化、经济、政治上拥有很多传统。中国当代的社会和形态带有中国历史经验的不可磨灭的烙印,无论是哲学、信仰模式,还是社会政治的思想和时间。理解21世纪的中国和理解中国的历史文明是分不开的。


About this course
China (Part 1): Political and Intellectual Foundations: From the Sage Kings to Confucius and the Legalists is the first of ten parts of ChinaX, that collectively span over 6,000 years of history. Each part consists of 4 to 8 weekly "modules," each with videos, readings, interactive engagements, assessments, and discussion forums. There are a total of 52 modules in ChinaX.
Parts 1-5 make up China: Civilization and Empire, taught by Professor Peter K. Bol. Parts 6-10 make upChina and the Modern World, taught by Professor William C. Kirby.

  • Methods of critical reading to modern scholarship.
  • To develop your own approaches to history and gain a critical appreciation of China’s literary, philosophical, political and cultural resources.
  • To express ideas more clearly and confidently; to think more analytically and critically through the study of primary and secondary sources.

    感觉很高大上的一门课,之间一直对edx平台望而生畏,说实话,真的不如C站用起来那么顺手,感觉每周的内容多的要死,可是一口气学下来才发现其实内容也没有那么多,只是因为习题采用了跟学堂在线类似的展示模式,不是在一页里显示所有的习题,所以很容易半路放弃。这是我在edx平台的第一门证书,自己MARK一下,有点小激动,下面打算开始PART 2了,希望能够修完这个系列的全部内容吧。

    终于把整个ChinaX系列学完了~单讲某一课的课量不算大,但合在一起就非常多了... 哈佛应该算是海外汉学研究的重镇,Bol教授是著名汉学家费正清的学生,他的许多讲述也很深入地揭示了海外汉学研究的一些特征... 比如重视地图资料的整理、重视流传下来的图片与文字资料、重视阅读文章(即使是翻译版)并做较为深入的文献研究,到位的、基于原文和第一手材料的研究才更容易深入主旨,避免隔靴搔痒...这应该也是我学这十门课里一直强化的一种研究方法~ 课程设计也算挺突出哈佛的习惯的,哈佛开设的课程大多都比较容易通过,跟MIT等有明显的对比...但是哈佛的课程一向制作精良,讲师用词富有文采,教学风格吸引人,这应该也是哈佛吸引学生的一个大招吧~

    好吧,为方便记忆,第一个视频里的朝代顺序歌谣,是森森地无视了开创朝代先河的夏朝,武侯诸葛亮所在的三国,书圣王羲之所在的东晋,战神李存勖所在的五代十国,更不用说辽国,西夏国,金国了。。。。。。 历代王朝地图中存在一些错误。还有西方学者对我国自然地理宏观区域划分那张图明显存在重大问题:你把我们的青海,新疆,内蒙,西藏,台湾,四川的一部划到哪里去了?你能这样划分,那我也可以直接无视美国印第安保留区所在州,少数族裔聚集区,阿拉斯加,夏威夷,关岛等,直接将其从美国地理宏观区划中划分出去!说得不好听点,这样划分是否存在险恶用心?让希望了解中国的外国人认为划掉的那些省份就不该属于中国?哥先把证刷到手,回头再跟新课发帖抗议,如果他们不打算更改,那就天天“画个圈圈诅咒你”,喵了个汪的。
